Alba Ladies jump to the first place of the LNF-B after a confident win (69-12/41-7) against the rival club Basel Birds on 6th Sunday in Lausanne on their last home game of the season in front of the local crowd. The teams played 12-a-side as requested by the opposition due to lack of substitutions.

The first half was dominated by Alba Ladies, despite the tight result of the last game between the leaders of the tabella in March. The first try was scored after a 20 min run at minute 1 by the dutch winger, Aniek … and the conversion was also successful, the scoreboard showed 7-0 for the hometeam right at the beginning.

Alba Ladies put huge pressure on Basel and thanks to this 9 minutes later the 2nd try was scored by Maria. The back line did not stop scoring after that, the swiss national team players Claudia and Anne also scored, and Maria was successful the second time too.

Followed by several phases of attack, Basel answered with a try and a conversion at the 29th minute of the first half. Aurélie made sure that the team does not go to the changing room with that and scored her first try in red&black right before the first half concluded.

Alba Ladies took some changes on the starting lineup at halftime but did not give any chance to Basel for a comeback in the second half either. The Birds attacking game created opportunities and they scored their second but also their last try of the game.

The remaining minutes provided spectacular Alba rugby, Anne, Anaïs, Naomi are all wrote their names to the scoresheet and last but not least Hanna … who picked up a dropped ball by Basel and run straight to the tryline to score the try of the game.

Alba Ladies celebrated a rightful victory after the last whistle. This important win means that the team is currently at the first place of the LNF-B before the last 2 games of the season against Zug Freyjas (12.05) and Switzers (26.05).
